Radio and speakers — removal and installation
Warning: The models covered by this manual are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), more commonly known as airbags. Always disable the airbag system before working in the vicinity of any airbag system components to avoid the possibility of accidental deployment of the airbag(s), which could cause personal injury (see Airbag system — general information).
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal (see Engine electrical systems).
Radio
Note: After replacing a radio system contain¬ing a satellite receiver, in order to receive «pay-type» broadcast stations, the radio’s ID needs to be registered with the appropriate satellite provider.
2. Access the radio by removing the dash center trim surrounding the radio by gently prying the trim free with a flat trim tool (see Body). (Work around the outside edges near the corners to release the clips.)
3. Remove the four bolts retaining the radio, then pull outwards to gain access to the electrical connections. Disconnect the electrical connectors and the antenna lead (see illustrations).

4. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Door speakers
5. Remove the door trim panel (see Body). All models have speakers in both front and rear doors. Rear door speakers are mounted similarly to the front door speakers.
6. Drill out the rivets, then disconnect the electrical connector (see illustration).

7. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Tweeters
8. In addition to the standard door and rear speakers, some models are equipped with tweeters mounted in the upper corners of the dash (see illustrations).

9. Remove the mounting fasteners, pull the tweeter out and disconnect the electrical con¬nector.
10. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Rear woofer assembly
11. Remove the carpet and left-hand storage bin.
12. Remove rear hatch weatherstrip trim.
13. Remove the left-hand quarter panel trim (see Body).
14. Remove the four bolts securing the woofer to the left-hand quarter panel area. Disconnect the electrical connector, and remove the woofer assembly.
15. Installation is the reverse of removal.
