Instrument panel switches

Warning: The models covered by this manual are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), more commonly known as airbags. Always disable the airbag system before working in the vicinity of any airbag system components to avoid the possibility of accidental deployment of the airbag(s), which could cause personal injury (see Airbag system — general information).

Hazard warning switch

1. Remove the center trim side finish panel from the instrument panel (see Body).

2. Gently pry the clips free to remove the switch housing, then disconnect the electrical connector at the rear of the switch (see illustrations).

3. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Power mirror control switch

4. Remove the fuse box cover (see illustrations).

i. 4b Turn the panel over, disconnect the electrical connection, then press in on the claw clips to remove the switch

5. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the switch. Depress the tabs and push the switch out of the panel.

6. Installation is the reverse of removal.

HVAC controls and defogger switch

Note: The defogger control switch and air conditioning control switch is one unit and must be replaced as an assembly.

7. Carefully remove the center cluster finish panel (see Body) from the instrument panel.

8. Pry the clips free from the HVAC control assembly and lift it out until you can disconnect the electrical connectors at the rear of the switch (see illustrations).

i. 8b Pull the HVAC control assembly out far enough to remove the connectors but not so far as to stretch or damage the wire harnesses

9. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Instrument panel illumination rheostat

10. Carefully pry the switch from the instrument panel, using tape on the screwdriver tip to prevent scratching the instrument panel.

11. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the switch.

12. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Console switches and power outlet Switches

13. Carefully pry the switch panel from the instrument panel (see Body).

14. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the switch. Depress the tabs and push the switch(es) out of the panel.

15. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Power outlet

16. Carefully pry the switch panel from the instrument panel (see Body).

17. Disconnect the electrical connector. Depress the tabs and push the outlet through the panel.

18. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Engine start/stop switch (Smart Key Models)

19. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal (see Engine electrical systems).

20. Remove the heater and air conditioning control assembly (see Cooling, heating and air conditioning systems).

21. Unplug the engine switch wiring harness connectors.

22. Pull the two retaining clips back and pull the switch from the control assembly.

23. Installation is reverse of the removal.
