Liftgate — removal and installation
Warning: The liftgate is heavy and somewhat awkward to remove and install — at least two people should perform this procedure.
Removal and installation
1. Open the liftgate all the way and remove the liftgate trim panel (see Door trim panels — removal and installation).
2. Disconnect all electrical connections, ground wires and harness retaining clips from the liftgate.
Note: It is a good idea to label all connections to aid the reassembly process.
3. Detach the rubber conduits between the body and the liftgate. Pull the wiring harnesses through the conduit holes.
4. Mark around the door hinges with a pen or a scribe to facilitate realignment during reassembly.
5. While an assistant holds the liftgate, Unbolt the liftgate support strut brackets.
6. Remove the hinge-to-liftgate bolts (see illustration) and remove the liftgate.

7. Installation is the reverse of removal.
