Instrument panel — removal and installation
Warning: The models covered by this manual are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), more commonly known as airbags. Always disable the airbag system before working in the vicinity of any airbag system component to avoid the possibility of accidental deployment of the airbag, which could cause personal injury (see Chassis electrical system).
Note: When using a screwdriver to pry trim panels, be sure to tape the tip of the screwdriver tip to prevent scratching the panels.
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal (see Engine electrical systems).
2. Remove the dashboard trim panels (see Dashboard trim panels and cover) and the center floor console (see Center console — removal and installation).
3. Remove the steering wheel (see Suspension and steering systems).
4. Remove the steering column covers (see Steering column covers — removal and installation).
5. Remove the instrument cluster (see Chassis electrical system).
6. Remove the radio and, if equipped, the navigation unit (see Chassis electrical system).
7. Remove the A-pillar trim panels (see Dashboard trim panels and cover).
8. Remove the glove box (see Dashboard trim panels and cover).
9. Remove the dash cover (see Dashboard trim panels and cover).
10. Remove the steering column (see Suspension and steering systems).
11. Remove the heater and air conditioning control panel (see Cooling, heating and air conditioning systems).
12. Remove the knee bolster (see Dashboard trim panels and cover) and lower insulator cover.
13. Remove the power steering ECU assembly fasteners and disconnect the electrical connectors.
14. Remove the hood latch release cable from the instrument panel (see Hood latch and release cable — removal and installation).
15. Mark the electrical connectors with masking tape and a marking pen before disconnecting them.
16. Remove all of the fasteners from the ends and middle (bolts, screws, nuts and clips) holding the instrument panel to the body (see illustrations). Lift the panel, pull it away from the windshield and take it out through the driver’s door opening.

17. Installation is the reverse of removal.
