Center console — removal and installation
Warning: The models covered by this manual are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint
System (SRS), more commonly known as airbags. Always disable the airbag system before working in the vicinity of any airbag system component to avoid the possibility of accidental deployment of the airbag, which could cause personal injury (see Chassis electrical system).
Note: When using a screwdriver to pry trim panels, be sure to tape the tip of the screwdriver tip to prevent scratching the panels.
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal (see Engine electrical systems).
2. Raise the parking brake handle.
3. Follow the illustrations, in order, to remove the center console.
i. 3a Rotate the shift knob counterclockwise and remove it
i. 3b Remove the parking brake lever trim
i. 3c Pry up the console trim plate. . .
i. 3d… and disconnect the electrical connector trim panel
i. 3e Pry the trim plate off of the tray
i. 3f Remove the screws for the tray trim, then remove the trim
i. 3g Remove the front side panel on the LH side
i. 3h Remove the front side panel on the RH side
i. 3i Remove the center console carpet, then remove the four bolts
i. 3j Use a flat trim tool to remove the center instrument panel trim
4. Lift the center console out of the vehicle.
5. Installation is the reverse of removal.
